Job Opportunity: Chef at The Duck and Bean Café, Tiverton

We’re looking for a skilled and passionate chef to join The Duck and Bean, our small independent café in Tiverton. This is a unique opportunity to take the lead in a locally loved café, preparing fresh, seasonal dishes while enjoying a free one-bedroom flat with bills included.

The Role

This is a sole-working position, ideal for a self-motivated chef who thrives in an independent setting. You’ll oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, focusing on preparing high-quality brunch and lunch dishes using locally sourced ingredients.

  • Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 am - 3:30 pm

  • Start Date: Sunday, 28th January 2024

Key Duties

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficient food production and service

  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, adhering to established recipes and presentation standards

  • Manage food preparation processes, including ingredient selection, portion control, and waste minimisation

  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations

  • Collaborate with the management team to develop new menu items that reflect current culinary trends

  • Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance, support, and training on cooking techniques and safety protocols

  • Assist in inventory management, including ordering supplies and monitoring stock levels
